I tried to remember what I did. I started with a photo of the canal,made it sepia.I added the girl as a tube,made her sepia and blended her in. I softened the image a bit,then added 2 masks.

"I tried to remember what I did..." Try activating the History Palette, it will record all your steps and can be used as reference or a mini-script for later work. Just go to View/Palette/History or...
